eBay and Giant Wobbuffet Update + Question

As for my question, does anybody try to find sold listings for something that a comm member has bought just to see how much they paid?
If I was asked from the start, I would be more than happy to link to the listing or say how much I paid. But what's it suppose to mean when someone goes out of their way to search for it (extensively?), and when they can't find it, asks to see how much you paid? I either ask them directly or look for the listing myself if I'm interested in getting that same item one day.
I am not trying to start anything asking this. I sincerely want to know if anybody else does this. And if so, why?
