There's lots on Y!J that go for cheap and it's pretty simple to use if you use a deputy service like shoppingmalljapan (it's what I use). You can always try it out, once you see it's not too hard to use, you can get other things on y!j for cheap :) But since you're not comfortable with it, I would say to just wait it out when other people on the community have them in hand, and they get steadily more available in the US since I think they weren't released too long ago. Also I'm not familiar with the price range but maybe $20-$30 since they're only crane machine prizes.

Yeah, with Yahoo Japan middlemen you would save money vs buying one of the expensive ones on ebay. But fees are something to be wary of. I've found the easiest site to use that lets you search in English and they also reply to your emails if there are any issues (I had a few issues and all were resolved with good communication) - it's Japamart.

I won a DX tomy Dragonite through that site for 600 yen (which is equal to around 6 usd), and with fees and everything ended up paying around $37 usd shipped to Canada, I believe.

Yeah, it's mostly having to go through the whole middleman service thing that I'm wary of right now. I'd happily pay shipping if I could buy directly from YJ itself, but I don't know if I want to use a middleman right now. It's just not ideal with the way my money and such is handled currently, it's complicated
I also find all the rules and such confusing, at least on the few services I've looked at so far... >3<

That said, I'm determined to get the HQ Raichu next year, so maybe in a few months I'll force myself to give it a try anyways. There's no way I'm missing out on that plush if I can help it! D:
I probably won't buy much more however. It's still too complicated for me!

Japamart is easy to navigate, if you haven't looked already! Easiest I've found anyway. I find the other site that someone linked here earlier is much too complicated for me. >n
