So today i did a little makeup shopping with a friend at Ulta then we walked over to DSW. Looking through the clearance racks, my friend found the gorgeous shoes. Steve Madden, peek toe, mary jane type, in red patent leather, with about a 2 inch heel. Super cute. They were an excellent price $29.95, 40% off, so roughly $18 pre tax. Excellent price.
We excitedly waited in line to buy the shoes as i peppered her with questions to know the right scenarios to wear these shoes (as i lack the instinct of color coordination). The salesman says "let me check they're both the same size", and has trouble finding it. (i did not worry, they both fit my feet) He calls another guy over who says "8" for one and "8.5" for the other. They are declared mismatched! So the guy who spotted this, goes to see if he can find their original pairs. He cannot, and declares they must have been accidentally sold mismatched. So we ask if we can still buy it. No they declare since the person who originally made this mistake might come back.
So here's the logic in this. Hypothetically the original ones were sold mismatched, and the woman has not come back for them. I who want the shoes am not allowed to purchase them due to this other person's error (innocent or not, some women who have feet two different sizes may do this to avoid buying two pairs of identical shoes). What will happen to these shoes? They will not be resold, but kept a while in case the original buyer comes back, and if not disposed of. So the shoes that i am more than willing to buy are gonna be trashed.
That's crap.
