Hello Officer!

Northern California's reputation for bored cops is well-known. I've been fairly warned by alot of people who tint their car windows that it's pretty strict up here in San Francisco. So I was prepared to say hi to a couple of officers on my trip up here. So here's the first one this morning. I was going through an intersection this morning ferrying between the Japantown hotel I'm staying at and UCSF campus when a squad car makes a fast U-turn and flashes the Christmas lights. I do the usual thing and stop the car on the side. I do the usual smiley thing and asks what's wrong when he comes to the door. I was really expecting to be talked to regarding my gangster-dark windows, but he pointed out to me that I needed to have a front license plate. I guess it makes sense because that's the first thing he spotted when we were going in opposite directions. Trying to hide a goofy grin, I told him that I'm from Pennsylvania visiting (I still have my PA plates) and that they don't give you the front plates in Pennsylvania. So after that he just asked me a few more questions and I was on my way. It's been awhile since I saw lights behind my car. I think the last time was when I was given a warning for accelerating 'a little fast' from a green light in my Mustang GT convertible. You can't resist doing that in a car like that. I didn't go over the speed limit though. ;)

Added: I also had the good fortune to meet up with sensei256 and greyeeyore. I narrowly escaped an ambush in the hotel lobby, but I enjoyed a good lunch with them downtown. :)
