So much for Wayne's party on Friday night, I got one of my patented migraines and we ended up going home after a fairly decent meal at an Italian place around the corner. By decent I mean that I managed more than four bites AND kept it down.
So I was asleep by 10:30 or so, and we were SUPPOSED to go the next morning to visit my step-dad and his fiancee who were in town and staying with my friend Lindsay's folks. However, my step dad called me early to let me know not to come, that they had been in a horrible wreck and his new truck had been totaled. He sounded completely miserable about the whole thing and just wasn't up to company. Apparently he and Lindsay's dad had been sitting in the truck at a stoplight when they were rear-ended by a Saturn doing an estimated 55 mph, and the guy didn't so much as tap the brakes before slamming into the truck. The Saturn was annhilated, the guy driving it was knocked completely out, and the impact was so severe it broke the seats in my dad's truck and slammed he and Larry (Lindsay's dad) flat on their backs. I'm glad Pat (my step-dad) has his wedding to look forward to in February, something to take his mind off this crap. All told the insurance and truck cost and all this will be roughly ten grand. No one wants to spend that kinda cheese on a car wreck that isn't even their fault.
They're getting married by an Elvis ipersonator who apparently serenades you with Love Me Tender after he escorts the bride down the aisle...I guess this is what you can do when you've both already been married before.
So we headed straight for San Antonio, I was disappointed that Mike didn't get to meet any of my family but better to wait for a...better...time. The weather was crappy in Houston and even worse in San Antonio, so we stayed in our hotel room, which was really nice and had a great view. We took those pictures I've been promising and after they're sized down I'll be able to send (to any interested parties). They are some of the favorite ones I've had taken, I think I was in the mood or something.
We were supposed to go out that night and have a huge night but....I got sick at dinner (go figure). So we walked back to the hotel and crawled into the unbelievable comfortable and oversized bed and watched Chuck Carothers fall off his bike in front of 25000 screaming fans at the Winter X Games in Aspen. Weird...I almost forgot the guy existed until two weeks ago and now he's all over the place.
Sunday we woke up and lounged, took a few more pics, went to the San Antonio market square (which was indoors, it was still rainy and nasty). Bought Liam (and me :)~ ) a few things and headed home. I got sick again last night so Mike cooked dinner and took care of Liam. I watched a funny ass comedy special, George Lopez's Why You Crying? On Comedy Central funny as hell. Speaking of funny as hell, I also saw on VH1 (I WAS FLIPPING CHANNELS I SWEAR I DON'T WATCH VH1...much) and I saw this hidden camera show where they had hidden a camera in the dash of a rental car and caught people singing and dancing in their cars to the radio. Okay, I thought I acted like a damn fool in the car. They had this one girl (she was cute already, but this made it better) she was singing Fifty Cent and HONKING HER HORN to it while she was driving down the freeway in New Jersey. It was seriously the funniest thing I saw all weekend. I cried.
I helped a small bit in a fundraiser at work for Tsunami relief and we raised about 105,000 in 3 weeks. I am soooo excited to help in something like that. I wish I could be there really DOING something, but I guess you do what you can with what you have and someone, somewhere appreciates your effort.
Weather here is still crap, going to go home soon and crawl into my bed (that hotel bed spoiled me though) and watch Titanic, cause I'm a DORK like that. Soup and tissues, please.
Hope everyone is aight. Pixxx
