the one with diversion tactics and assumptions

Today seems to be Point Out The Obvious Day. I'll kick it off with an extremely obvious one: buying things to distract you from What's Really Going On (Or Not Going On) is expensive. Sadly, for me, it really does work. There's nothing like switching all your crazy from "Jesus he adds a lot of females on fb" to "omg must have chiffon layered maxi skirt". The crazy makes me feel pretty stupid. I could rush out the "at least it shows you care" thing, but still it does show that you're also pretty mental. I have been trying to reign in the crazy, but it seems to increase as my interest in what I'm reading decreases. So I need to pick more interesting sources to read through apparently. DIVERSION TACTICS. And Hot Hot Heat, because listening to Hawthorne Heights was just making me mopey. Ok Go is also quite good in this situation, particularly the self-titled album.

You know what makes me annoyed about so many of my performance practice books? They all assume the readership is classically trained musicians. Hell no guys, I know like, what, two J.S Bach peices and no Mozart. This however, does not mean in any way that I do not understand what the books are rabbiting on about. Just because I'm not educated in exactly the way everyone else is doesn't mean you get to tell me that I'm not suitable. Gnah. No doubt in the preface to my PhD I'll have some sort of rave about how I'm a special snowflake in the scheme of performance practice and it'll embarass me about five years later. But whatevs. If you don't do this stupid stuff how will you learn?

It is dusty at uni today. I'm pretty sure I got a whole lot of it in my left eye, because hell was it watering. Now my mascara on my left eye is 90% gone, so I look a little bit Clockwork Orange as the right eye still has full mascara (and my eyelashes especially the bottom ones are LONG with makeup on). Oh well. I am quite sure my computer screen is not going to notice and it's pretty much all I look at all day. I've also just realised that I've cut down my food intake at uni without actually intending to. Pretty sure I need to make sure my metabolism isn't shutting down! Because that would be bad. Last night I ate more salad than the world and it was freaking awesome.

food, makeup or lack thereof, being stupid, buying stuff to make it okay, crazy, performance practice
