the one with images and hands

Summary: basically, I have odd looking hands. Probably.

When I was first learning to play the electric organ, my mother always said I had pianists hands. At the tender age of ten, I thought this was rather a good thing, because at least I didn't have the stubby fingers most of my friends had.
I always assumed that she was just being nice though, because mother's are just supposed to be nice (or at least, when I was ten that's what I thought).
But I was looking at my hands the other day, and I thought damn those are some freaky hands.

So you can judge for yourself: freaky hands or pianist hands.

My piano teacher was always amazed (and I believe slightly irritated) when I could play fourths easily between my third and fourth fingers. As you can see from the photo, the joints between those fingers are a bit...odd. At least, they look damn strange to my eyes.

And yes, I am also grossed out by the weird stretching.

My hands are actually quite proportional to the rest of me though, seeings as I have size 9 (Euro 40/41) sized feet which is kinda big considering I'm 165cm tall.
I did want larger hands up until about a year ago, when I discovered that, yes, Rakhmaninov did have freaking huge hands, but Josef Hofmann's were actually smaller than mine and he played fantastically as well.
So I guess I'm just glad to have what I've got now, not that I'll ever be a fantastically great pianist or anything. I am far too lazy for that.
