she

she rolled over and groaned when she felt the drumline from Louisiana State starting a performance in her head. the ground was cold. where was she? the bathroom floor. the bright fluorescent light flickered. the bulb was dying. she sat up, slowly. there was no stench of vomit and she blinked in disbelief when she stared at the clean floor. "good aim," she told herself. for once she wasn't swimming in her own waste. her nose hurt, her throat hurt..she stood, slowly. she looked into the mirror. it was enough to make her want to keel over the toilet again. she looked like a drag queen, and not one of the more attractive ones. she turned on the tap. she let the water run and run. she stared at it as it washed down the drain; like her life. spinning fast into one direction, just holding on, and then disappearing. she out her hands under the steaming water. she knew it was burning her, because it was on high heat, but her skin didn't react. she splashed water on her face. smoothing out her party dress she looked around to try and locate her shes. success on the left foot. she didn't need shoes in a cab anyway. she turned the door handle. walking out into a sunlit living room with windows 8 feet tall surrounding the entire room. the light hurt her eyes. she shielded them with her hand. not a person in sight. she wondered what had ended up happening. she walked to the front door. "ding," goes the elevator. she was gone.
