There's not enough "WTF is this shit?" in this world to describe my current feelings.

So... I've just seen the first two episodes of the sixth series of Doctor Who ( Read more... )

the pacific, doctor who, rant, ...what?, utter disappointment

I guess this is just a factor where we'll have to agree to disagree. I don't feel any emotional bond towards these characters at all. Hell, I don't even know why. Eleven doesn't seem quirky and eccentric to me, he seems sociopathic. Tbh he creeps me out a little bit. The others had something off. He has something wrong. That is of course just my opinion and I know you don't feel the same way. Hell, you ship FrUk. I've come to terms with the fact very few of our opinions coincide.

I will definitely watch The Doctor's Wife (even though the title sets my teeth on edge), if only because Neil 'God' Gaiman wrote it. And I will keep watching, if only because it's really the only thing on and I need to stay awake for The Pacific.

I'm glad they eventually get shown, after spending a whole series in 'let's ignore them' limbo in series 5. And If he didn't mention Jack, I would be SORELY PISSED. It's JACK, ffs. How can anyone forget him? ;P

I actually think I might like River the most after Rory. As it is, Rory is the only one I care anything about. River may whinge at times - for me - but she's still so, so much better than Amy. Amy's been annoying me since the first episode of series 5, don't expect that to ever change.
Funny thing is, Rose is actually third on my list of favourite companions. She's not my favourite, and I didn't like her love story at all, I always rooted for Rose/Mickey. If I'm saying I prefer hers, it's means I must detest River's (imo, the greatest of Who love stories is obviously the Doctor and the Master - and that's not even a love story). Probably because Eleven has no chemistry with ANYTHING. Personally.

And I actually thought I'd never say that about RTD, especially after what he did to Ianto (*sobs*). I love what Moffat's done with Sherlock, but hate what he's done with Who, so it's really not him as a writer, just him in relation to this particular series.
Heh, you can really tell Moffat's the first straight guy at the helm of Doctor Who since '76. XD

Sorry I answered this all higglety-pigglety.

Just to calm you down, The Doctor's Wife has nothing to do with River. XD Absolutely nothing, but if the end of the episode doesn't make you tear up, you may have had your soul stolen. I tear up every time. >>;;

I get the first season bit with not thinking about them. He was trying to put it behind him for a bit then slowly go back. I think it was coping mechanism with everything that went wrong before.

*giggles at the word 'higglety-pigglety'* >>;; *is five* RTD did so much I can't stand. ...and actually, while I do like Ianto, I don't understand Jack/Ianto. I know I'm the weird one here, but it just doesn't make sense. Jack killed Ianto's girlfriend in a very traumatic way, even if there were extenuating circumstances. It doesn't seem something you'd really get over enough to jump in the sack with someone. @_@

EDIT: His mention of Jack was saying he could go to all of Jack's stag parties in one night. There is no way I'm not ficcing this someday. >>;; He even said he could help little Rose Tyler with her homework. *wibble*

Don't worry. It's not River that's the problem there, it's rather the phrase itself and its definition. Please don't make me hate you, Gneil. Pleeeeease! D':

Maybe that's why Eleven is so wrong to me. He's finally broken.
This might sound weird, but... Well, I know he's an alien, but the Doctor's always reminded me of the Fae from the old stories. He isn't human, doesn't quite get humans but he's still fascinated by them. He's childish and fatuous, but he's still a good faerie (insomuch as fae can be good and not benevolent neutral). Eleven... Eleven feels like a bad faerie. Like he's got something very dark and very nasty going on underneath the surface. He doesn't want companions because he's curious and lonely, he wants them so he can fuck around with them. Hell, I'd actually read that fic.

It's a fun word. It should be used more often. >7<
I just put it down to Torchwood being so irreparably fucked up, nothing makes sense.

It if Jack met the new companions... Rory would be so freaked out (because we know Jack likes dorky otherwise he wouldn't have gone for Ianto or Alonso) and all embarrassed. Amy would preen, and River would give back as good as she got.

He wooooon't. Promise.

I feel like that better explains Ten than Eleven, really. And I see Eleven as healing rather than broken because really, Ten was really broken by the end. Regenerating helped there.

I can hardly stand Torchwood. Watching only to write Jack fic, really. >>;; The characters have grown on me, but dammit... Though, the Martha episodes kinda made me happy. For the Martha bits, anyway.

Pfffft, Jack likes EVERYTHING. I think the only things he'd turn down are the Master and a Dalek, really. The Doctor would never want Jack to meet Amy or River. His brain would explode. Though, it makes me think perhaps Jack would end up like what happened when Donna met him: quite overwhelmed, for once. XD
