One Last Thing

I know people were upset over the debacle, and I can sympathise, but what bugs me now, are the number of people who cannot let it go. They say SixApart took too long to respond, and I have to ask:

Is this your first time ever, dealing with a corporation?Trust me, I was rather surprised at the turnaround speed. Sure, on the internet, two days may ( Read more... )

I'm mad that they had time to talk to some news sites, but didn't even have to say "We're listening. We're looking into it. We'll release a full statement once we figured some stuff out."

The other thing is - LJ developped apart from the corporate mantle it is currently under.

My only issue with their statement was the lack of professionalism it showed. I am sorry but the strike out? NOT professional at all. The second one has grammar and punctuation mistakes.

It annoys me that they obviously didn't run that through any PR department OR bother to have anyone proof-read it.

Other than that, I can understand why it took a few days.

I also wonder how they couldn't foresee this... but no one ever foresees anything, so it's not surprising.

I'll start with: I've been off LJ all week and last weekend due to real life so I have no idea what the heck has been going off.

BUT... I'm surprised no one realized the probably cause of the delay: Legal Team. And Policy people.
It doesn't matter that it was a small company and is now corporate... the fact is, it is corporate now. And in any med. to larger corp., you don't do ANYTHING without your legal team or policy makers.

I can't believe they would do an announcement on something so serious with what looks like misguided UNseriousness. That was a huge mistake on their part because of instilling the amusement they were hoping for, it gave them a wholey unprofessional look.
