You better believe it! I just got a new computer, a gaming laptop with awesome everything, with some wonderful noise-isolating earbuds, and I am loving it!

I tried finding the other bands you recommended, but they weren't there. This is at alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.alternative-rock. One guy posts stuff with a request in the subject line, and I found a group from him with Cold in the subject, but it was the request! Dammit!

Anyway, I went back to that post where you wrote those bands, and I figure you must know what you're talking about...... ;-)

So you can't picture a 41yo woman with a cat by her leg and a kitten laying on her tummy (head draped over my left wrist as I type) rocking to this? And Green Day American Idiot before that? I *love* that album!!!

I really need to get to bed, it's past my bedtime. Heh, I can't imagine the image you must have of me! ROFL!!!

I can tell you that I am definitely NOT a "frumpy frustrated stereotypical housewife/mother ( ... )

And what are you going to do with all that computer?! :P Other than let it go to waste. :P I'll never buy a dell again after my last one... Where it would get BSoD's at the login screen. So how much battery time do you get? 3 minutes? :D Although the only downside spec wise I see with the laptop is the chipset/video card/RAM. DDR2?! And with the new nVidia 9600 graphics on the MBP it's slightly outdated, as you could be running DDR3... Although I hate to ask... How much did you pay?! :D

I'm going to stick with "frumpy frustrated stereotypical housewife/mother" unless there's a possible internship in the future, or your daughter disproves the mental image I have. :P

I'm not sure yet what I'm gonna do with all that computer, but I was tired of having sucky video and sound. The last two I had I got for programming, database stuff, basically a workhorse machine. I wanted this one to be LOTS more fun ( ... )

Hahaha, are you using it for 'lots more fun'? :P

Ouch 5k... And people say Mac's are more expensive! :P

After taking a better look at some of the specs, some of the options are a bit extravagant, as it'll never leave your desk more than likely. Overall I don't think I would have paid over 3.25-3.5 for it with various options, in a 17" laptop form factor. I paid 2.8 total for my new macbookpro, and by the price points a better value in comparison. And when/if Apple releases a new 17" MBP it'll still be less than what you paid.

Second life is so... Out dated haha... No one really uses it anymore, I remember seeing a statistic on it how out of it's users the average was like 12 minutes logon time. You're better off getting into WoW or something. :P

I checked out WoW last night, and it wants money. I'm not willing to pay to play, and anyway, it's all fighting and stuff, if I'm reading it right. I just want to go someplace where I can explore. I remembered that I have a Google Lively account, which seems more like what I want, and I can be a Kitty there! I haven't had time to really explore, but what I've done seems (at least) okay.

I checked out a few more that were mentioned on Wikipedia, which included a few that require *real* money for every little thing you need (clothing, stuff, etc). SL is that way to an extent, but I haven't gotten into it far enough to find out. That avatar is hard as hell to figure out.

Maybe I'll go back to Webkinz. ;-) At least you don't have someone randomly coming up to you wanting to chat.

Is that one of those world building games? I tried one of those once, totally boring. :-(

It's more of a cross between Sims and a MMORPG with a lot more interaction planned on a community level. I'm not really sure at what point you start out in, and develop the person from but it seems interesting.

As far as internship wise, my major is in Security and Risk Analysis. Although I'm more interested in the intelligence and modeling vein that Penn State offers.

Here's a link on the SRA major. It's within the School of Business/Info Sys Tech school.

Cool major!!! But the page says this is a Bachelor of Science degree, which suggests it's within the Math department at least. My BS of computer science is within the Math department, at Va. Commonwealth University...

But that's a COOL major!!! How far along are you?

Nope, school of business as it's an IS/IT degree. It's the only major in that school that doesn't require calc too. :D As I already have my math credits transfer from years ago. I'm pretty sure most colleges list computer programming in the math department if they don't have something dedicated to computer programming, or as a subset of their computer engineering program.

hehe, I'm not that far along in it according to the school/course wise as I'm in my first semester, with about another semester worth of classes that transfered. But I haven't really learned anything that I haven't known already aside from a few organizational/development things for how to implement security on a company scale.

With IT being a science and programming degree at VCU, and it requires calc. And statistics. I was horrible in stat. Better in calc. IS is in Business because it's Info Systems. You don't have to have the extensive math, or the understanding of the guts of the computer, how it works all the way down to the logic gates, or the extensive programming. To do programming, you have to understand a different kind of math ( ... )

Okay, I just read up on DDR3 here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR3_SDRAM and it seems there's no way I can upgrade with the hardware I have. It looks good to have, though! Even though there are some interesting downsides to it. The choices on the configuration page didn't offer a DDR3 option. :-\

"frustrated" indeed!
