With IT being a science and programming degree at VCU, and it requires calc. And statistics. I was horrible in stat. Better in calc. IS is in Business because it's Info Systems. You don't have to have the extensive math, or the understanding of the guts of the computer, how it works all the way down to the logic gates, or the extensive programming. To do programming, you have to understand a different kind of math.

I took one class twice because it's integral to computer science: discrete math. I just could not get recursion, and there was another part of that course that just killed me. I got a D the first time, and either a low B or high C the second time. Recursion is definitely something you have to know for some kinds of programming. If you've got an IF statement or a FOR statement that will be infinitely nested, it's time for recursion. It's one of those things you kinda have to take on faith, with a bit of understanding.

Anyway, that's why IT is in the Math school, which is actually part of the Science school, at VCU. Subset of Math, which is a subset of Science, dontchaknow.

I'm glad your classes transferred. That can be a real headache! :-)
