So I think I'm going to re-install Sims 2. Really! And I'm going to start fresh, no custom neighborhoods and so forth. I want to only hang onto two sims: Pixel and Bean Curious
( Read more... )
Aww, at least you're keeping Pixel and Bean! That's like me. If I ever decide to uninstall TS2 and then reinstall it again, I'll probably just keep Bunker and Marina. Which were in fact, the first 2 sims I re-made in TS3.
Well if you ever feel like you are missing a sim you'd like to mess around with that has been deleted, I'm sure madame_ugly and I have got you covered. XD
And regarding downloads, it looks like sixamsims got you all the ones you need.
Bunker! He's so cute. I love his little smile. ^_^
Yes, Keely is a godsend. Or a Mamba-send. (I had to think for a minute to remember the Great Goddess Mamba's name.)
This isn't a de-install/re-install exactly. A virus destroyed my computer a few months ago, and I never installed Sims 2 again after that. I probably lost a lot of Mnemosyne, because I am lazy about backups. I think there's a backup with an early Mnemosyne somewhere. The backup on my laptop doesn't have it, though... oh never mind! I won't bore you with my backup ramblings. The gist is I'm starting over.
But I do need my Pixel and Bean. I'm trying to decide how to explain them. Cousins of the other Curiouses? Visitors from another dimension? *ponders*
They could be cousins of other Curiouses from another dimension!
Well, if Vidcund discovered he had more alien relatives he'd probably be quite intrigued. That, of course, couldn't be said about the father of my "pixellated children."
Just think. Teen alien-hating Tank, still in the clutches of his militant father, meets his time-traveling spawn! XD(Damnit, now I want to do a little story about that.)
BV is okay if you want the vacation-themed clothes (tourist clothes, Asian, camping, island, etc.) and some of the nifty stuff (hot springs, sauna, massage tables, tents, etc.). But the sims don't age while on vacation, so it can drag out the family after a while.
Personally, I like FT for all the extra stuff everyone can do - it helps to fill in time, esp. on elders, by trying to get every last hobby badge and so on. Plus if you want to run a business, several hobbies give you items to sell (pottery, quilts, etc.).
I'm kind of mixed on AL; if you really want the fun of apartment buildings, that'll do it for you, and sometimes it probably makes more sense for the household to be poor as mice and living in one dinky apartment with noisy neighbors and no parking. ;)
There are also recommendation posts over in thesims2 for each EP

Thank you for your points on the EPs. I'd forgotten that sims don't age on vacation (though it makes sense they wouldn't). I really don't think I'd use it much. For me, essentially it would be an expensive stuff pack. I'll put BV on the "maybe later but probably not" list

You evil woman! Now I want need MUST HAVE all the EPs and stuff packs. I was wondering where sliding down the banister came from (I saw that in your last post). Babies playing on a mat with toys... omg. Heehee.
I'd forgotten about the hassle of no-cd cracks. I think I'll just not worry about it. I have Sims Deluxe and I think it has the evil thinger on it, whatever it's called. God there's so much I've forgotten...
I'm going to play without all the mods and hacks at first. Then when I start ripping out my hair over the neighborhood kids calling, I'll go to MATY and get them back.
I even can't remember how to use the testing cheats. Haha. This is going to be fun.
That shows the baby toys. The babies chewing their own feet is. . .*too weak to type*. (and it's blatant AL spam)
You'll probably be fine without the cracks. I'm just a paranoid sort.
As for hacks, you may want to grab the Director's Cut (from MATY) for the lastest EP you get. There are a few things in there that are "critical fixes". You could just leave in those and save everything else for if you want it later. (and that's just one thing to download, so one stop shopping)
I can't wait to hear about your new adventures in an "old" game.
(just because I'm nosey, do you have any opinions on sims3?)
Installation is taking SO LONG... and I'm only on the first disk D:
I feel iffy about Sims 3. I like the idea of being able to roam the neighborhood. The personalities sound more interesting, too (though honestly I don't feel that limited with Sims 2's personalities).
The most exciting thing is being able to create different body types, the variety of skintones, etc. Though fromm the early previews, at first I thought the sims all looked bland and boring. Then I saw the preview video by Parsimonius, and realized there is so much more variety than what the other previews showed. That got me excited for it
