I went to Pittsburgh Beauty Academy 5 years ago, for skin care. They closed.
However, the last assistant at the salon i'm at, started at Empire, and thought it was way to snobby. She transferred to South Hills Beauty Academy, and liked it alot more there, we also had another assistant/stylist who went to South Hills, and really liked it. I have been thinking about going back for nails, so i happen to have a lot of info in hand. So, next classes start May 7th and then June 4th.(classes start monthly). Cosmetology is 1250 hours, total cost $11,250., full time: 9months, part time or evening 19 months. Manicuring 300hrs, $3400., full time: 2.5 months, part time day 3.5 months, evening 4.5 months. Esthetics 325 hours $3,845. Full time 2.5 months, part time day 3.5 months. Is this too much? Pell Grants are available for the cosmetology program only. Grants are based on income and are determined by the department of education. Hope this helps. We'll need an assistant at our salon soon, if you'd like a head start, ours may be moving away. Just let me know.
