The State of 'dom. Oh, and speaking of State-- go Spartans!!

So officially this is day one of Spring Break. You can't see or hear, but I'm flashing my tits and screaming WOOO!!

I can't tell you how much I've been needing this break. Daily threats of bodily harm at work (from me) and road-rage that escalated at an exponential rate kiiiiiiinda stressed me out. o.O So for the last few weeks I kept a list going of all the things I need/want to do this week during my time off while I STAY at home for vaCATION. (Don't make me say it. I hate buzz words.) A few things on that list are:

- Finish watching Generation Kill, which is awesome.
- See lots of movies in the theater. Already scratched Hot Tub Time Machine and Alice in Wonderland off the list. Next is Avatar and possibly The Ghost Writer. I need to catch up!
- Boring domestic stuff
- Pack for my 2 day hiking adventure "downstate" because I need to get away from all this concrete before Ifuckingloseit!
- Not sit at my computer and click refresh every couple of minutes waiting for my current favorite story writers to update their WIPs. Nope. Not going to do that at all.

Honestly, let's take that last item and discuss it more shall we? As you may know, this past summer my spare time got the best of me and I found myself in a fandom I'd never a) new existed and b) never thought I'd find myself. FFwd a few months and I'm still there and going strong and have an icon. I think I figured out the reason why this all works a few months ago. So this soap, ATWT, sucks. A lot. It's epic bad. After 50+ years of being on air they've been canceled and there's an end date this Summer? Fall? So I'm assuming all of the good writers jumped ship and what we have are the bad!fic equivalents hacking the show down to a nub. Whatever. The upside is that fic writers rule and when the source material is shit the fic seems to be pretty darn good and some of it is ZOMG!! *grabby hands* There are a small handful of Luke/Noah writers in ATWT that I adore, 4 of which have semi-weekly WIP posts that I'm following. One in particular I've dubbed "the crack fic" not because it's crack!fic but because I neeeeeeeed it like a crack addict needs another hit, baby. Just a small one to get thru the day. It's just my nerves, baby. I can quit anytime, but I've just got some stuff I need to work out first and then I'll quit, I swear. Ahem. So, yeah.

It's funny now since a lot of us are splintering off into smaller fandoms since yet another show has been canceled on us. Mav and autiger are jousting in Merlin, Kite's posting pics of cute boys with dolphins over in F1, pollitt's polyamorous and in lots of sandboxes, and I could give 2 shits about most of the fic posted in fandoms I used to obsess over. Why is that??? Oz? Nope. DS and SGA? Meh- only if it's written by people I know/like and I'm feeling 'up to it.' I still read everything Strachey because it's rare, and the occasional Who fic when I'm feeling melancholy. All the other shows I've watched, like True Blood, BSG and Dollhouse, I just watch. I don't find myself looking for more and I kinda wonder why that is. Those shows ping my 'dar in a variety of different ways, but I just don't care to read anyone else's interpretations for some reason.

So here I am, mid 30s obsessing over boys 10+ yrs my junior on a despicably written show, still in my PJs, and debating whether or not I should take my car to get an oil change or just say fuck-it-all and bust out some beer at 10am. Yeah, I love my job. ;-)

(And if by the most impossible chance you are interested in reading Luke/Noah fic, drop me a line. I can set you in the right direction.)
