dixie ghosts

hello,

my loss-of-touch with livejournal reflects a larger, more infortunate trend i have experienced: i've been disappointed with my efforts to stay in contact with friends.  i mean, i certainly assume a sense of mutual understanding--everyone is doing their own thing in a sort of solidarity with each other.  but, i still wish i would devote more time to chewing the fat with old friends.

life is sudsville has been exciting, eye-opening, frustrating, etc.  i find school work takes a backseat to many of the things i do, which, as of late, has been reading.  a list of the books i have read in the last month:

vonnegut's a man without a country
                 thomas wolfe's the hills beyond
                 thomas wolfe's look homeward, angel
thomas wolfe's of time and the river
thomas wolfe's the web and the rock
thomas wolfe's you can't go home again
remarque's all quite on the western front
solzhenitsyn's one day in the life...
                 capote's in cold blood
                 capote's other voices, other rooms
                 faulkner's absalom, absalom!

i think i shall read some of fitzy's short stories next.

as far as this quickly-approaching summer goes, i'm pretty excited.  i will be working for aj's dad again and hope to live as sustainably as possible.  i was unfulfilled by last summer, and will work to make sure the same isn't true this year.

i look forward to seeing everyone soon.  i'm sorry for my general lack on contact--i'm constantly impressed with the quality of ames people.
