where have all the children gone?

i realized yesterday there are a lot of people i haven't seen over break that i wanted to. i've seen a lot of people, but feel unfulfilled by my efforts to see more. break has been really good, though. ive driven a car only twice--the day break started (dec. 16) and the night i returned from colorado (dec. 22). otherwise, my transportation has been biking or occasionally catching rides with other people (but mostly biking). i went flying with my dad yesterday, and thought the view of ames from above was really cool. ames looks small and comfortable, united in some sense of placement in the iowan landscape. i saw my house--it looked really ugly from above.

in honor of not seeing nathan, i will tell of a dream i had, in which nathan was the key personaje: i was in the jungle with all of my friends, and we were in a classroom waiting for class to start. i was the first one to class, and noticed there were some snakes hanging out on the classroom floor. as friends entered the room, i warned them about the snakes and they avoided them. nathan came in really quickly, though, and i didnt have time to warn him. he pulled out a chair from under a desk and a huge orange snake rose up in front of him like a cobra. nathan punched the snake and it fell to the ground. he laughed, and the snake blew up, with its guts filling the air and circulating around the classroom. we all thought the guts were macaroni and cheese noodles, so we tried to catch them in our mouths. orange snake guts, eaten as macaroni. what a dream. thanks, nathan--your impulsive punch made that dream much more enjoyable than it probably would have been.

i had been planning on visiting ben and greg at carleton this weekend, but my mom and dad decided to go out of town yesterday without notice, so i was required to stay home and take care of the cats. ben and greg, im sorry--i would still like to come sometime.

i hope people starting school again tomorrow have a fun semester and realize their potential to change the world.

i suggest drinking cranberry tea. it tastes great and will clear up your urinary tract. BONUS!

take it easy but take it.
