DUNDER MIFFLIN

It's a shame that there's already a TV show about a bizarre office, because I'm certainly picking up all sorts of great material these days.

Our building is being renovated (and only a year later than it was originally supposed to be!), so the sales team and I have been temporarily relocated to our corporate head office. It's, uh, an experience.

I'm used to a certain amount of activity. Like, people being busy and noticeably working hard, phones ringing, a hum of conversations, things to tell that there are other people around... Here, I can hear the air flow in the vents. The sound of my fingers typing right now is giving me that feeling like when your friend has had too much to drink and doesn't realize how loud he is and you feel kinda embarrassed by the noise... It is, for some reason, about 4 degrees celsius. I'm currently wearing a t-shirt, a zip-up sweatshirt, and a fleece pullover and I'm still cold.

The people are another thing too. Lots of people are generally nice I suppose, but some are just totally weird. When we first arrived here for our temporary stay, no one actually acknowledged us. It was like when you've had an argument with a friend and just both never say anything to each other about it in the hopes it will go away in time. At one point, one guy came over to me to say something, and then one of our sales reps came by after he'd gone and said, "Oh, wow, he actually talks to you!" and I said, "No, it was only 'cuz he wanted something," and she laughed and insisted on giving me a high-five. Ordinarily I'm not a particular fan of the whole high-five thing, but in this case I had to agree it was in order.

At least we'll be back in our own digs in another few weeks...
