Among many other fun things, we went to the
Lane County Historical Museum on Saturday. We went to check out the "Snoopy as the WWI Flying Ace" display, but I was much more interested in the other items from the regular collection, especially the old horse-drawn carriages. Check out this Williams' Bakery delivery van from the 1890s! Williams' is still around (though now they are owned by Franz Bakery of Portland), and they make very good cheap bread (we used to live around the corner from their bakery thrift store, which was awesome).
I LOVE this 1890s hearse. I'm bummed my picture came out blurry, because the detail work on this is just beautiful. I think you can get an idea.
Otto hanging out with Grampy in the jail.

More antique toys.
Later in the day, Otto reprises the "hanging out in jail" pose in the unused poster rack at the comic shop.
After the history museum, my dad and stepmom took us out shopping for our Christmas presents. We went to the toy store and got a Radio Flyer wagon for Otto (which is just going to remain unassembled in a closet until we can use it in spring), a very small wooden train set and some play dough (he picked up the package and showed it to me and said, "ma, dough!"). Then we went to the kitchen store and got a set of mixing bowls with handles and pour spouts for me (I've been wanting some for a while), and then to the yarn store where I got an entire rainbow of Plymouth Encore to use for my toy designs!
Already feeling overwhelmed by the generosity of these gifts, we headed back to our house for a break before going out to dinner, and there was a completely unexpected card from my grandma, with money to put in savings to help with our bills after the grub is born. At that point I just lost it and started crying. I tried to read the card to Sean and couldn't even get the words out. I spent the rest of the day feeling like a big raw nerve (hello, hormones!), but in a really, really good way.
