My poor niece Melodie is facing troubles again. As most of you on my flist know, Melodie's first baby two years ago was stillborn; a healthy girl arrived in January, and now she is expecting her third. Because of what happened two years ago, her ob/gyn monitors her weekly, and she got a blood test for the RH factor. This condition was present in her first two pregnancies, but during those times her blood and the baby's got along fine. Now, with this third one, Melodie's blood and the baby's are not mixing, and she is in danger of losing this child. There is nothing she can do at this point except do what the doctor says to do- come back every week and keep doing what she's been doing. That's the hard part about the "RH factor"; there's nothing she can do differently to fix it, and the poor thing is a nervous wreck (as are all of us). She is 28 weeks along, and depending on what further tests show, she may receive steroid shots to hurry the baby's lung development along so she can deliver early. Thankfully, they caught it early; since Melodie is considered "high risk" owing to her first miscarriage she visits the doctor weekly. However, it's one of those awful "wait and see" situations, and Melodie asked for all the prayers she can get. I talked with her last night when I stopped by the house, and I got to see the ultrasound of the new little one (she doesn't want to know the sex but is positive it's another boy). Please pray for Melodie; she's trying to keep it together but it's very hard.

I hope you all have a good day, and that the Lord will be near to you in your own times of hardship.
