Right so I decided to just at least update a bit on life. Had tennis this morning at 7am. Yes insane hour considering the fact that I only slept at four D:
I really wonder how I managed to survive my secondary school days when we woke up at 6. It must the wundermother who likes kicking people out of bed and brandishing threats like having to get to school myself instead of her fetching me.
Anyway I could feel my old-woman joints squeaking everytime I got ready to return a ball. Mg I'm SO out of shape. I haven't touched tennis in... *counts* five years? I'm amazed I could even hit the damn ball.
Anyhow this kid comes in halfway when we're taking a break. He didn't have his parents or anyone with him but since he was so cute and so caucasian with big eyes and pretty face, we allowed him to sit on the bench and watch. Ugh weakness.
-You should not ever allow this to happen. Never.-
So we continued the game, only problem is we never counted on the fact that he would get up and try to move towards us on the court.
... Yes.
Remember stories of how kids would amble up behind a player and the player, who does not possess eyes on the back of his head, would swing his racket back with FORCE and...
You get the picture.
FORTUNATELY it didn't turn out into a horror scene with bleeding kids and half open heads. Urk. No, but the racket did skim his forehead and we were like OMGZ STOP! Thankfully the racket didn't really hit him because he was still a little far back so it barely reached him. Then we were rushing towards him asking him if he was okay and checking if he was bleeding anywhere.
Then the unexpected happened.
He LAUGHED.
We were almost in hysterics and he was standing there giggling like it was the funniest thing in the world and said, "Can I do that again?"
...
Uhm. Watchout for suicidal tendencies in the future. Yes we suspect he may be abused at home and has no value of his life whatsoever. Call child aid now plzkthx.
Of course we followed up with exasperated cries of NO! But he didn't seem to see what was serious about the situation so we tried explaining to him. But fortunately (or not) his parents decided to turn up.
Happily, he proceeded to recount what happened which in short translation was, "Hey mama, I almost got hit and permanently maimed with racket, but it was cool and I'm not dead. Can i stay?"
Or... that was the message his mum probably got because she got a terrified look and then rounded on us and said things like, "How could you let kids on the court?! With no supervision whatsoever either?!" (We tried vainly to explain that his puppy-dog look was what did us in but this mum was unsympathetic. Cuteness can be a serious hazard, I swear.)
But it was true, we realised how idiotic we were to let a KID sit in the court with no one to watch him either. If he HAD been hit, we would be in serious dipshit. So thank god for mercies.
Anyway the parents left with the kid in tow soon after, the mum was more infuriated and the dad was sort of smiling when he left, like he was amused with the situation (and the way we quaked in our shoes under the glare of the mother) I think we know where the kid got his, "die the fun way" attitude now.
Hmm interesting morning. But I'm now prepared for an otherwise boring day.
