I was going to write an entry yesterday but it's a really good thing I didn't considering I was functioning on three hours of sleep thanks to my almost two-year old son. Heh, are you sure? That would be a pretty long post and I'm way too tired to even try it. I will say that my main problem that I just can't seem to get past no matter how much I try is the portrayal of women. I really want to know who decided that all main female characters must be skinny as sticks, wear skimpy and/or tight clothes and have cheek bones that look like they could put an eye out.

Besides the obvious issues of a fucked up ideal body image and what it's doing to women's psyche and actresses' job opportunities, it shows a tremendous lack of imagination by the writers to not be able to write women as anything other than sex objects or mother figures.

It's so bad, I even have a hard time watching shows I like, like Heroes and Lost. I'm turned off by lots of shows that may actually be pretty good because I just can't get past the unrealistic portrayal of 90% of the cast being beautiful, young people. It's not just female characters either. There's one show I keep clicking on with detectives that I think are supposed to be ( ... )

Yeah, I'm sure - you make a lot of good points right here - and I agree with you. I'm gonna save this post and try to comment more tomorrow - I'm kinda brain fried right now (long day) but I didn't want you to think I'd forgotten you!
