Question:

Was I the only one who, when in the first, second, maybe third grades when we'd read a story where something unfortunate happened to a character in the story and were asked as a class how we thought that character would feel, thought it was ridiculous that the only words we had in our very limited children's vocabularies were "sad," "bad," and "mad," not just because those words didn't do the emotion justice but also because of the very apparent rhyming of the words that seemed to make a mockery of what they were trying to describe in the first place?
