Yuletide has been excellent this year! The story I received is
Dirge Without Music a Kings fic about Vesper Abbadon's early days in prison after he was dethroned, and delicious mental cat-and-mouse games between him and Silas Benjamin. Excellent and subtle expansion on the backstory/worldbuilding of the show, too.
Other stuff that is excellent (that I was at least able to read today between holiday festivities):
Badger and Skinny Pete are Dead, Bitch! (Breaking Bad referencing Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead) One of the the things I love most about Breaking Bad is that all of its characters get to do cool things and get development, even if they're just little side characters that serve for mostly comic relief. But I have been thinking lately about how Breaking Bad uses some Shakespearean allusions and structuring (albeit with a strong surrealist/absurdist bent), so Skinny Pete and Badger are set up perfectly as the Rosencrantz and Guildrenstern to Jesse's Horatio to Walt's Hamlet/Richard III/Henry V.
22 Short Fics about Abed Nadir (Community) Abed is basically my precious bb and this fic is so so so perfect I can't even. It gets into his headspace perfectly, showing how he uses popular culture and media to structure and define the world, but he's also pretty much the most sensitive, pragmatic and sane character on the show. Oh yeah, the "Five Pillars" bit made me tear up.
All in a (Sexy) Day's Work (Kate Beaton) KATE BEATON COMICS FIC EXISTS AND THIS IS IT
A Living Fire (True Grit) B'AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Lost in a Haunted Wood (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) MORE B'AWWWWWWW THIS WAS THE JIM/BILL OXFORD FIC I NEEDED
Felicitations (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) Again, Jim and Bill, because they are my heart of hearts.
