I got briefly interested in a Netlfix documentary about the Zodiac Killer, but a half hour showed it was just Robert Graysmith pushing his same old Arthur Leigh Allen theory to the next generation. All his timeworn distortions and exaggerations, plus a couple of new ones (I've heard at least 3 versions of that "it was chicken blood on the knife" story).
People should stop making new material about Zodiac unless there's actually something new to discuss. Even if I don't totally buy Jarett Kobek's theory in How To Find Zodiac, at least it was something new. Not just a new suspect, but a new way of investigating the case.
Last week I gave up on trying to coordinate with Mom to get someone out to service the generator and farmed it out to Jamie. Mom kept giving me different answers and I couldn't tell if it was dementia or if she was just lying for some weird reason, and our discussions about it always devolved into screaming arguments. (Jamie thinks it's kind of both, that when she can't remember what the actual truth is she'll just say the first vaguely plausible sounding thing that pops into her head.)
Anyway, it took Jamie maybe 20 minutes of googling and making calls to find someone who specializes in the type of generator we have and make an appointment. Someone came out yesterday, started it, heard the knocking sound that had alarmed David, said "I'm pretty sure I know what that is", and looked in the fuel line.
We had water in the fuel line. He ran the generator for about a half hour, the water worked its way out, and we're good.
At least that's what Mom said, and I'm choosing to believe her because it would be immediately obvious the next time we tried to use it if she was making it up.
I can't believe tomorrow is Halloween. I'm turning 50 in less than 4 weeks, why do I still feel like a clueless idiot at this adult stuff most of the time.
