I texted Lori yesterday afternoon about Touro Synagogue being out as an option for Krewe of Muses, and she replied that it was no big deal because their apartment is just a couple of blocks from the parade route at St. Charles and Poydras, and there's a big grandstand in Lafayette Square. She bought us tickets at $35 each; that's honestly less than I would have thought, Muses is one of the most popular night parades. (Generally you can judge how popular a krewe is by how close to Mardi Gras they roll, and Muses is always the Thursday before.) So that's one less thing to stress over.
I was going to go to Target and buy a new pillow today--pillows are one of those things I prefer to buy in person instead of online. But then I remembered it's Carnival, and I try to avoid going into Lafayette during the season because I never know which streets are going to be blocked off. (I got lucky with how my haircuts were scheduled, and because it's a short season; I had my most recent one before it started, and my next one isn't until after it's over.)
So instead I went to the Walmart here in Abbeville, because I also need new leggings. The ones I have now are a few years old, and they're starting to show wear in the usual spot (where my big ol' thighs rub together). For some reason most of the ones in stock were either that stupid wide-legged cut--they're legginsg! they don't need to look like bell bottoms!--or had hideously ugly patterns. I was able to find 2 pairs I could live with, one a very dark heather grey, and one an indigo tie-dyed pattern. (I only like indigo tie-dye; I find the brightly colored variety to be stab-my-eyes-out garish.) I also got a couple of loose drawstring pants, which I like for hot weather, and 3 scoop neck T-shirts. More money than had planned to spend, but I haven't really bought any clothes in nearly 2 years.
