Self-care Saturday

So far my vacation is like any other weekend. I'm leaving Monday morning for Poverty Point and coming back Thursday. I haven't quite decided what to do with the Friday; I'm leaning towards going to the weird record store in Rayne that's never open on the weekends (so I rarely get to go there).

I got my haircut today, and Mom did the exercises she's supposed to do on days when she doesn't have physical therapy. She even got something for her and Phil to eat. I think it was just yogurt and cheese puffs, but whatever. As long as they eat something between breakfast and dinner. I treated myself to a root beer float and nachos at Borden's between the salon and the grocery store, and actually remembered to buy travel size shampoo/conditioner for the trip.

I got these keychains that arrived in today's mail:

Because when I was dropping my car off at the repair shop on Thursday, the woman who took my keys told me no offence, but if I were you I'd get a different keychain. When you have a lot of weight hanging from your key, it can wreck your ignition over time.

Now, I've never heard that. But I had no reason to disbelieve her; it's not like the next thing she said was "And luckily for you we happen to sell lightweight plastic keychains!". And my old keychain is extremely heavy. It's a solid metal rectangle about 2"x4" and painted to look like one of the bath tokens from Spirited Away. I wanted a very large, heavy keychain so if I dropped my keys I'd hear them. These keychains are resin and very lightweight, but so large and clattery and obnoxious I figure they'll serve the same purpose.

keychains, a day in the life
