Don't ask me if I have plans for the summer, I save them for autumn
I'm spending the next week at our condo on Dauphin Island in Mobile Bay. I left about 10:00 in the morning, made a stop at the Trader Joe's in Baton Rouge for food, and got here at 4:00.
I haven't been to Trader Joe's since last October; we were going to get one in Lafayette, but we got an Aldi--it's the same parent company--instead. Which I haven't even been to yet. Don't you need a quarter for the shopping cart or something? I hear they make a cheese Advent calendar, that will probably finally get me to go.
Anyway, I had expected the prices to be higher, and they were, on a few things, but honestly not as much as I would have thought. I got eggs and bread and coffee concentrate and some other basics, but also made sure to grab some fun stuff: fancy olives, lemon and elderflower soda, pub cheese, almond lacys, and that chicken liver mousse with truffles that I pray they never stop selling.
Normally when I spend a week here, I try to do something constructive for at least a couple of the days, going to Mobile or over to Florida or Biloxi. I love Ocean Springs, which is only about 45 minutes from here.
But I feel really unmotivated this trip; not in a bad way, just in a "I really need to do nothing for a while" way. I brought my painting stuff, and I'm going to the closest Michael's (I think it's in Theodore) tomorrow or Sunday to get floss for a new embroidery project. And of course there's always reading.
I'll go down to the beach if it's not too hot, and it doesn't look like it will be after the weekend. It's going to drop a good 10 degrees (and it's only about 80 now). That's actually my favorite beach weather. I'm not a swimmer, I'm a "alternately read on a towel and wade up to your knees" girl. I don't wear a swimsuit to the beach, I wear an old dress and a sweatshirt.

Tonight's spooky season viewing was catching up on Los Espookys, which is hands down the weirdest thing I've seen on television in a long time.
