For Sarah...

"Imagine me and you. I do! I think about
you day and night it's only right... "

The first time he heard the song he was sitting at the kitchen table coloring in a Seasame Street coloring book. His mom was baking cookies and singing to the radio. When the song came on she asked him if she could have this dance. Of course he said yes! Who says no to their mom? Especially when she's baking chocolate chip cookies. Their dance consisted of him standing on her feet and holding her hands while she attempted to turn him around. That memory is still one of his best.

"...to think about the girl you love and hold her tight. So happy together.
If I should call you up, invest a dime and you'd say you belong to me and ease my mind,
imagine how the world could be, so very fine. So happy together."

The second time he heard the song he was sitting in between his mother and father in the family truck. The song came on the radio and his dad started singing while making googly eyes at his mom. To this day that very memory never fails to make him think of home and love.

"I can't see me loving nobody but you for all my life.
When you're with me baby the skies will be blue for all my life.
Me and you, and you and me. No matter how they toss the dice it had to be..."

The third time it happened was on Valentine's Day of his 17th year of life. He was at the talon watching Chloe swoon over Wally and (surprisingly) Pete whisper sweet nothings in Lois' ear. All he could think was whether or not he'd ever feel that way about someone. Or, better still, have someone feel that way about him. And then, just when he thought all the puppy love was going to make him hurl...HE showed up and the world around Clark came to a halt.

"...the only one for me is you and you for me. So happy together.
I can't see me loving nobody but you for all my life. When you're with
me baby the skies will be blue for all my life."

The fourth time he heard their song was after their 110th argument over...well nothing really. He had just arrived back at the penthouse after a quick run and he heard the well known tune coming from the kitchen. Very cautiously he opened the door and what he saw made his eyes tear up. There was candlelight and flowers and his favorite meal of chicken and mashed potatoes...And then there was Lex on bended knee holding up a ring and so choked up that all he could manage was a very quiet "Please?".

"Me and you and you and me. No matter how they toss the dice it had to be.
The only one for me is you and you for me. So happy together."

The fifth time he heard their song was on his wedding day, in the arms of the one that was only for him. And that man, who had to be so formal in front of everyone else, was singing (well trying to really) their song in his' ear. And Clark knew at that very moment that this was what he had been searching for his whole life.

"Me and you and you and me. No matter how they tossed the dice, it had to be.
The only one for me is you and you for me. So happy together. So happy together.
How is the weather? So happy together."

The sixth and most memorable time he heard that song was around 2 a.m., while he was leaning against the door frame in their son's room. His beautiful husband was rocking a very cranky three week old and singing their song to him.

"We're happy together."
