Summed up in one word: OW.
There are now skid-marks and boot impressions all over my ass from where it has been kicked around Snowbound, a map that I have learned to loathe and hope I will never see again after Basic Training is done. No way in hell are these people actual noobs. These are mid-ranked people who've decided to buy another trial account or two or twelve, I think. They spend two games in Basic Training and get their stripes off of doormats like me.
Which isn't to bitch about my doormat status, I pretty much expected to get owned. I'm not fantastic at PVP-type things, I have a 40-year-old's reaction time, and I'm on drugs that would put a normal person on their ass. None of which is conducive to this kind of thing. I just wish I had the chance to play against fellow newbies, that's all. I also wish I had a better sense of how I'm doing. With one game's exception, I'm getting kills in, just not enough of them. I'm reading the hints, but there's a LOT to try to remember in the half-second where someone encounters me and wipes the floor with my blood!
But I keep plugging on in the hope that practice makes, if not perfect, at least a corpse with a bit less lead in it.
