[As nice as Taiwan can be, there are some times when she continues to be an absolutely incorrigible, spoiled, self-centered brat.  Her birthday happens to be one of those days.  It also happens to be today.  Mayfield is a mess, her family is in shambles with Netherlands gone for good, and the house is a wreck following Saki's run-in with the

The girl leaning forward and placing a small, chaste kiss on Taiwan's forehead.-

It's going to be okay...

[Yeah, that definitely wasn't expected. Comforting hugs, sure, but she'd never had a kiss from May Lee before. It's a little confusing, but it's also what she needs right now. Frowning, she wraps her arms around her friend.]

"You shouldn't be outside... it's dangerous."

Don't worry about that... -She wraps her arms around the other girl as well- I can run pretty fast.

[Taiwan used Vicegrip! It's super effective! Yeah, she's clinging pretty hard over here. Between Netherlands being perma-droned and knowing that Saki died just the other day, and with May Lee right here in front of her, she wants to make sure her best friend doesn't leave her too.]

"Y-you can stay here if you want, you know. If you'd rather not be out with the hazmats at night..."

[Rests her head on May Lee's shoulder.]

"...it would make me feel better."

I paid Cody in beer to watch over Maria tonight so I could come check on you so... yeah. I can stay the night.

[Nods, smiling in relief.]

"Okay."

[Happily nuzzles her face against May Lee's shoulder.]

"Thanks for always being here for me."

You're always welcome, Mei...

-She moves a hand to gently pet at the girl's hair.-

Let's get you inside, eh? Maybe we can salvage this birthday.

"Yeah... I'm probably pushing it the longer I stay out here anyway."

[Lingers there with her for a few moments, though, before moving to the door to head inside.]

-May Lee follows her... thought she pays the night street once last glance before heading inside-

[Walks inside and just sort of mills about in the living room. She seems sort of restless.]

"...So, we should do something to take our minds off what's going on out there."

Got any ideas? I mean, we can't really spar indoors...

And I don't have a DVD player, and you probably didn't bring Kamen Rider anyway, and the house is still pretty messed up from the last time the hazmats came in here...

"Yeah, that's probably a good idea."

[Taiwan starts walking around the room picking things up and situating them back on the walls, on shelves, on endtables, etc. A lot of it is broken beyond repair, though, and that stuff she just tosses into a corner for now.]

-May Lee does the same, mostly following Taiwan about as she works. She tries to look positive.-

[Taiwan is taking this opportunity to throw away all of the family portraits in particular, but otherwise she just tries to tidy up as best she can. Eventually she heads for the kitchen to get a big trash bag to throw all of the unsalvageable stuff in.]
