[It's early in the morning at the van der Bilt household, and Taiwan is up at the crack of dawn.  Today's an important day for her - Double Ten Day, which is her national day and the anniversary of the Wuchang Uprising that led to the establishment of what would eventually become her national government.  She's up on the roof as the sun rises,

Yo! What's the occasion?

Today's my National Day. The anniversary of the Wuchang Uprising that led to the establishment of the ROC government. We call it the Double Tenth back home. My birthday's actually coming up in a few weeks, too.

Sweet! I should get you something!

"Well, if you really want to get me something, you can wait for my birthday, which is on the 25th. That'll give you some time to pick something good out."

[Smiles, walking over to give her a hug.]

[Taiwan squeaks cutely as she's picked up, holding on around May Lee's shoulders and lifting her legs off the ground as she's spun in a circle.]

"Wow, wasn't expecting that!"
