9 Months Old!

Elisha Ann Fulljames turned 9 months old a few days ago. This reminds me that not only do I only have 3 months left until she is a whole year old, but I have 3 months in which to get my teeth sorted for free. Bravery vibes so I can take up this perk of pregnancy please.

The difference between this month and last month is amazing. Just over 2 weeks ago, she began crawling. She went from getting up onto her hands and knees and just rocking, to proper crawling! Along with this new found talent, she now crawls up to furniture and pulls herself up on it, and tries to walk along a little whilst holding the furniture (this is apparently known as cruising!) She also walks fantastically when I hold her hands for support. However as she is getting closer to whoever we are going to see, she gets excited, does a dance and drops to the floor to crawl there as she knows it'll get her there quicker.

The crawling progressed interestingly in itself. First, she would just crawl to get to an item. Usually the sky remote. Occasionally an actual baby toy. Then, there was this discovery that she could randomly crawl around, and simply find something interesting on her way. A few days after this, she discovered that she could go from our living room to my Mum's of her own accord. She now negotiates the entire downstairs of the house. I need to put the stair gate upstairs before I let her explore up there.

She has become very interactive in the last month too. If you hold your hands out to her, and say 'Would you like to come Elisha?' she will reach out to you, if she wants to come. She now is able to choose, and I think this has resulted in a much much happier baby. If she has only just met someone, she doesn't want to go at first, but after a chat and a play she will go happily. I think it resulted in a much easier visit to the in-laws too, as she was very much in control of everything. She can crawl away if she is not happy, and decline the invitation to come.

Nursery is now go too. Two days a week. She adores it, and the staff are very pleased at how well she has settled. She loves going to her key worker as soon as she arrives for a nice cuddle and then happily plays for hours. I'm back to work in just 2 weeks.

I feel like 9 months is very significant. Like it is the end of the babyhood in a much more official way. I am enjoying it now more than ever, and finally confessed to Steve that I would like to have 4 children. Ha! Don't count on it.
