Just last week, I took a short break to Thailand, Bangkok with my parents.
It was rather impromptu, as they thought of it on Monday night, couldn't get tickets for Tuesday and then we left on Wednesday.
That's just how impromptu my parents are.
Anyway, I did not do my packing till Wednesday morning itself cos' I was too busy talking to Baby the night before.
I miss those late night calls. =)
Anyway, 3 of us shared a luggage of 14.4KG and headed for T1.
I was pretty happy but we were kinda late so we checked in our luggage and went inside.
My name's too long to be entered into the air ticket that they left out the A of my Cynthia. O.o
We took a flight to Bangkok via Cathay Airlines.
I was pretty amused by the way the safety instructional video was in an animation form.
And loads of Canto.
I was a happy bugger, though there were many other things that was on my mind then.
Mum got some Pork Curry with Risotto.
Mine was pork rice which really wasn't very nice.
The food was just so-so, edible but not good enough to be mentioned as good.
Anyway, it was a pretty short flight.
The service wasn't really good. They forgot my Poker Cards. O.o
And we didn't get to watch any TV programmes cos' the captain didn't get it turned on.
The 'Flying' part whereby the passangers had to keep their seat belts on was on for like 40plus mins?
He simply forgot to clear the signals when it was safe enough.
wtshit actually.
Anyway, we got to the airport and I was kinda cranky.
But we were good.
Met the really irritating tour guide which my dad likes alot, FangFang.
I think she's so damn pretentious and superficial.
wtshit.
She bid us goodbye and had the driver send us to the hotel.
The traffic situation's pretty terrible cos' the vehicles on the road simply don't move!
It's like too many vehicles. O.o
Anyway, I was feeling kinda vain. =)
Outfit of the day:
Dress: missypixie
Leggings: online buy
Bag: online buy
bangles: Malacca
Belt: far east
After a short rest in the Hotel (White Orchird) which is situated in the heart of CHinatown, we headed to the streets in search of food.
Dad brought us to his favourite Kway Chap stall.
The bowl of piping hot soup was really spicy cos' of the pepper.
But it was damn good.
The roasted pork especially. Mmm, just speaking of it makes me drool.
We had 2 glasses of fruit juice to go along as well.
And the lady was really good at packing the drinks.
Making use of a string and a plastic bag w/o holes filled with drink, she tied it up.
No holes at all! It was like so amazing.
Anyway, this is the Porky-look-a-like Kway Chap seller.
After having our fill, we walked around Chinatown in search of more food.
Stalls by the roadside were just so common.
Everything was being sold.
Even children's new year costume, though it's way past the Lunar New Year.
Ducks.
Zi Char Stall which has like veggie and seafood.
There was a 'live' movie screening towards one end of the street.
Projected by an old school projector, the film was none other than Kung Fu Panda.
The people really knew how to enjoy life.
See the fellas lying on the ground enjoying the movie!
There were loads of fruit carts as well.
The durians there were huge.
Some satay stall.
Pig Throtter Rice stall.
There were also 'live' cooking performances!
Grilled prawns which smelled heavenly.
Heh, a BIG FAT FROG.
And I think the red thing is the other frog's heart or something.
The streets of Chinatown was easy differentiated with its' NEON sighnoards all over the street.
We walked and explored.
And settled down for round 2; Wanton Noodles!
This is the best I've ever tried.
The noodles were damn Q and the wanton was big and fresh with a whole prawn.
We had some cola that came in those old school bottles as well.
And it seemed like every restaurant or road side stall provided people with the STAPLE 4 SEASONING.
Chilli oil, which is like tobasco sauce.
Chilli slices.
Chilli flakes.
Sugar.
Huge durians.
Cheap pancakes which were going at 3 for 50 cents.
Then something caught our sight.
A lady in her full attire while cooking porridge.
Face mask, welding helmet, cap, gloves, loon sleeved shirt, apron, pants and boots. O.o
And her porridge was good cos' we had it packed back to the hotel for supper.
There were many temples and such too.
Some fried snack which was Q Q and yummy.
And they really believe in being OPEN. =)
And we got back pretty late and got our rest.
Till then, I'll be back with more on Day 2.
Tata!
