New Leaf

Here we are a week into the new year, and I'm already ready for a change. Not really a change in years though, because I don't enjoy myself and everyone else getting older... But I'm ready for a change in my life. I'm ready for a new job. Well actually I was ready for a new job when I started my current job. But that job was taken out of necessity and desperation. But now that the holiday season is over, the hours will be getting cut back and I will be aching for money.

I'm kicking up my job search efforts, and its obvious that this will be a struggle. There aren't any decent jobs available. I'm being told to apply for everything and see if employers would be willing to take a chance on me. I'm expanding my job search outside of Salem into 3 different metro areas.

My first choice is Salem, which probably seems lame to some, but this is where my family lives and I wouldn't mind staying here. Sure its not the most exciting place in the world, but its not that bad. If I want to go to Portland, its an hour away. If I want to go to Eugene, its an hour away. No big deal. However, the job prospects in Salem are slim, so I'm open to other locations.

My second choice is Portland. Its really fun living in Portland, since basically anything you want to do is there. However, I don't really do much and the traffic situation in Portland is aggravating. So I don't know if I want to put up with it. Also, the cost of living is higher, and I dont' know if I want to be spending $800/month on an okay apartment, when I could be spending $600-$700 on a nicer, bigger apartment in Salem. But we'll see... I've been reading the benefits that Nike offers and that seems to be a rad company to work for, so we'll see.

My third choice is Eugene. I like Eugene too. Its a different atomosphere down there and they have alot of the same things that Portland and Salem offer, just in a slightly smaller scale. Plus, I like how Eugene is so artsy.

After procuring some type of worthwhile full-time, living wage capable job, I am planning on getting an apartment. I've already been told on numerous occasions by the 'rents that at 22 going on 23, that its time for me to be getting out of the house and being on my own. Note: I am fully aware that I should be getting out on my own, this isn't like a shock to me.

Jimmy and I are planning to get an apartment when I get a full-time job, that will definately help with the living costs.

These are my goals for 2007:

-Get the aforementioned full-time living wage job.
-Move out into an aparment w/ Jimmy.
-Develop a more grown-up and sophisticated look.
-Save money

If anyone knows of any good resources for job searching or have any good tips, please please let me know.
