Well not really. My life isn't all that beautiful. However, it is much better than it was around this time a couple years ago. Anyway. I'm still stuck at Borders. I really wish I was doing something better and more satisfactory than being a bookseller. It seems like such a waste to be working at a store in the mall with a college degree. I've been trying to find another job, however, I've gotten so discouraged after having gone to so many interviews and never getting chosen for the job. I didn't even get the copy editing job at the Capitol, and there were 8 positions! I regularly check the newspaper classifieds and the State Job page to see if there's anything decent. I also check the listings at the area colleges like Western, Chemeketa, and Willamette. I even check the UO listings too. However, I'm running out of ideas and I don't know what else I can do to make myself more hireable.
The problem is, I don't have the most impressive resume. I've had jobs before but I don't have very much experience in anything--and that's what employers are looking for, job experience. However, I do have the skills that employers are looking for, I just don't have the professional experience using the aforementioned skills. I'm an excellent speller and grammar/spelling nitpicker, but I haven't had any jobs where I utilized such skills. Hopefully I'll find something soon. Jimmy and I want to get an apartment together. But right now, neither of us makes enough money to be able to afford to do so, and live with a reasonable level of comfort.

2. DID YOU KEEP YOUR NEW YEARS' RESOLUTIONS, AND WILL YOU MAKE MORE FOR NEXT YEAR?
I think my resolution was to graduate in spring, and I did that. And my other resolution to get a good job is still in progress.
3. DID ANYONE CLOSE TO YOU GIVE BIRTH?
No, I don't think anyone I knew very well had a kid.
4. DID ANYONE CLOSE TO YOU DIE?
Michelle Oliver (we weren't close, but I was still sad); A bunch of relatives who I knew but weren't especially close to: A few great aunts and I think a great uncle.
5. WHAT COUNTRIES DID YOU VISIT?
The U S of A.
6. WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE IN 2007 THAT YOU LACKED IN 2006?
A better job, and even though I had this for a little bit in 2006, I'd like to have my own apartment that had a regular-sized fridge and there weren't stupid fire drills and people slipping notes about meetings and the RAs wanting to have hall parties. I didn't live in a damn dorm room!! I'd really just like to have some financial security.
7. WHAT DATES FROM 2006 WILL REMAIN ETCHED UPON YOUR MEMORY AND WHY?
Probably June 17, because not only did I graduate from college, I also lost my dinner in my mom's car as a result of the Olive Garden Limoncello Lemonade. I think I'm allergic to something in that drink. I don't know what it is.
8. WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT OF THE YEAR?

Well I wasn't depressed, but BRITNEY SPEARS. Girl, put on some damn panties! We don't need to see you airing out your undercarriage all the time!!

Justin Timberlake's "SexyBack," Weird Al's "White and Nerdy," and Shakira's "Hips Don't Lie."
17. COMPARED TO THIS TIME LAST YEAR ARE YOU:
a) Happier or Sadder?
Probably in the middle. I'm not as depressed as I was at the end of 2004, but I'm definately not as happy as I could be. But only I'll be able to help myself (and maybe a nice employer!), so I'll have to work on getting hired somewhere.
b) thinner or fatter?
A little bit chubbier I think, but generally the same. I was really skinny at the end of 2004 (hovering at only like 103 lbs) but that was due to stress and being depressed. Now I'm a little bit bigger than I'd like to be, and that'll be something else I'll have to work on this coming year. I want to lose about 10 lbs so I can get back into my favorite jeans.
c) richer or poorer?
A little bit poorer.

24. DO YOU HATE ANYONE NOW THAT YOU DIDN'T HATE LAST YEAR?
No.
25. WHAT WAS THE BEST BOOK YOU READ?
Haha. Good one. I want to be a reader but I just haven't gotten into it. I did get reading glasses though so I guess I can't use my "eyes getting tired" excuse anymore, because the reading glasses are supposed to alleviate that problem.
