I have hardly any free time lately and what little time I do get is spent with Ted so apologies for the lateness of this post! chailin asked me a long time ago when I posted about Paris to spill the beans about my relationship, so here we go.

We met on holiday in Mallorca at the hotel my mother and I go to every year, which is strange for two reasons. Firstly, my parents met on holiday in Mallorca and secondly no one my age ever visits this hotel, which is why I like it because you can unwind completely. Anyway, we met on my second day there and spent five amazing days together swimming in the sea, having pool competitions, mixing our own drinks at the bar after it had closed and going out for long lunches before him and his family returned to the UK. On his last night we walked down to the hotels private beach and spent the best part of three hours laying in each others arms watching the sea and the stars and willing him not to have to go home.

At this point I should point out that Ted lives in Winchester, which is a five and a half hour train journey away from where I live. As you can imagine I was unsure as to what would happen next but from the minute he got home he would text me all the time to check I was enjoying the rest of my holiday and call me every night saying he couldn't wait to see me when I got home.

When I returned to the UK we immediately booked a country retreat in Leicester, half way between us both. My friend Kate calls it 'operation weekend' as neither of our parents knew what we were doing. The hotel and weather were gorgeous and we spent most of the weekend ambling between pubs and walking around this quaint little park we found. When we were saying goodbye I realised how strongly connected I felt to him after such a short space of time and the goodbyes have not become any easier.

Since then we have alternated me going to Winchester and him to coming up to me but I much prefer going to stay with him. Winchester is such a lovely, picturesque place and his family are so warm and welcoming. I spent last weekend cooking meals with his mum Julia, her sharing all of the family stories and me telling her about my teaching career so far, watching Mamma Mia curled up together on the sofa with his mum and dad sat hand in hand next to us, teasing his younger brother when he wakes up at 11am hungover and best of all going to the Isle of Wight for his aunt's 30th wedding anniversary.

On the Sunday morning we were packed and reading to leave at 9 am, although we were supposed to leave half an hour earlier but Ted took a little persuading to get up! By 10 am we were on the ferry at Portsmouth ready for the hours journey to the Isle of Wight. I was slightly nervous about this as the only other time I have been on a ferry I felt very ill. Luckily the sea was calm and I actually rather enjoyed it!

After a quick tour we headed to the Priory Bay hotel, which is simply gorgeous and we plan to stay there at some point in the near future. After introducing me to his extended family and a quick cup of coffee we all ambled down to the beach to watch Ted's uncle strip down to his boxers and swim in the sea. It was 24 degrees at the time so I imagine it was a pleasant swim, although the water must still have been cold. Whilst we were eating lunch a famous football player landed his helicopter in the grounds and walked up with his family for a bite to eat, which was quite a surreal experience to witness. They certainly captured the attention of the other diners!

Unfortunately I had to leave at 4 pm for my return journey home but Ted kindly came back to Portsmouth with me on the sea cat to make sure there were no problems with my train. We arrived twenty minutes early so we curled up on the train and daydreamed about plans of running away together and the possibility of me moving down in the future. I don't think I have ever felt so content in my life. When the train was pulling out of the station knowing it would be two weeks until we saw each other next I felt an uncontrollable wave of emotion and just sat shaking, tears streaming down my face. A sweet elderly lady handed me a tissue and told me the story of her first love, which was both uplifting and heartbreaking all at the same time.

That's the story so far. The next time we will see each other is the coming weekend when Ted will stay with me for 3 nights. Until then I'm surviving on constant texts and a goodnight phone call every day ♥
