how did it get to be a third of the way through October already? i don't like how time goes differently when you're not measuring it in academic years. i think i need to have some children, so i can start saying goodness me it's almost half-term, rather than thinking about the run-up to bonfire night, Christmas and New Year (my local Sainsburys have started pushing the mince pies and advent calendars right next to the Halloween chocolate eyeballs.)
