Alrighty, a few things.

First off, I just want to show off an awesome blog that everyone should check out. Tegaki E, which as far as I can tell is supposed to have the kanji for hand, picture, spirit, and drawing, is a blog where all of the comments and entries are hand-drawn on a tablet or with a mouse.
The software's not exactly on par with more sophisticated programs, but it's pretty nifty if you're careful or just want to sketch.

Secondly, I kinda want to talk a little about the current RPG me and my friends are embroiled in.
This comes from me sitting here waiting to be picked up to go vote, listening to music that I think might be a suitable theme song for my cowboy. It's fucking hard to find good theme music for a Lawful Good (or as close to as our group has), naive cowboy with an utterly uncheerful past.
But that's another rant.
My character's past involves the utter destruction of his home world and presumed death of everyone but him. Now, there were few if any reports made of this incident because, well, humans aren't regarded in the highest in this 'verse, and that was the primary casualties.

So the only account my cowboy has as to what happened is what he remembers and knows. And in the vain hope that there would be any "guests" to rescue, at least two rescue chocobos were probably sent. (Chocobos being...ships. The mode of transportation. They go "quark quark" when you honk the horn. :3)
This game is being played like a video game, with all of us being a player character, performing tasks, "leveling up," getting our asses kicked.... And everyone knows that at the end of all good games, when the credits are completed, the player gets to watch their character get a happy ending.
I'm fairly certain that, despite the friends he makes (So far one. And he doesn't really know what a friend is, though he's showing signs of starting to be protective of my cowboy with the "friends help each other" thing *cue Awwwww*), what will make my character have a happy ending is if, somehow, his fiancee survived the catastrophe as well.

This wouldn't come up until the credits are rolling, of course. It would be the equivalent of basically just seeing my cowboy's fiancee on screen, and he turns to see her, and they run into each other's arms.

Like I explained above, I've unintentionally left enough little holes in his backstory to retcon the statement that he was the only survivor (particularly since none of his companions had heard of the catastrophe). Too bad our GM and former GM aren't too inclined to, you know, cutesy fandom fodder like that. So I don't really know how to bring it up without getting "But you've already said you were the only survivor."

Bah, maybe I should leave well enough alone and keep that little credit-clip to myself.

soapbox, rpg, video game, art, fandom fodder, cowboy
