I took the kids back to Port Hope and met their mother there. They had a great time in Ottawa. Nothing like an 11 year old to make you feel old though. At the Museum of Civilization she took a photo of the Vancouver Airport exhibit - the portion of the exhibit showing vinyl travel bags and logo marked drink coolers from the 70's - and when I asked her why she told me that she wanted an image of "how they did things back then". It was a new experience.
I stayed a few days visiting with my parents on the farm which was great (except for Friday when I ended up being sick the whole day). The weather was fabulous. I woke up one night and saw that the moon was so bright I could read by it. We also tried to see the meteor showers last night but I was too tired to stay awake for it.
It will be nice to sleep in my own bed tonight for the first time since a week ago this past Thursday. The kids had our bed and a double air mattress in the master bedroom and hubbie and I slept on the double futon in the guest room.
Cats are happy to see me and I am happy to see them. Simon has been chatting away to me for most of the evening. He really let me know that the first thing to do was to let him out of the house into the back yard.
Glad to be home.
