I'm going to be annoying and let you all live vicariously through me.

Ren Faire opening day was FANTASTIC! I haven't been the past two years and it's been killing me! Even with major construction the drive was a lot shorter than I remember. Maybe that's because I think I need to drive 5 hours to get anywhere I want to go.

Well, I went with Micki. We missed the Russel Rd. exit because we somehow ended up in an express lane and couldn't get to it. So we bipassed it, and hence Cracker Barrel, and settled on getting McDonalds and eating it while sitting in the line of cars sitting outside of faire waiting to the parking lot to open up. Which was entertaining all by itself. We saw some people at the head of the line with their van butts in the air, and OMG REN FAIRE TAILGATING WHAT AN AWESOME IDEA!

So, fastforward, I have officially had my chainmail cherry popped! I finally got up nerve/got there early enough to model chainmail, and it was also AWESOME! I feel like I bruised my collarbones because of my stubborn horrible posture, but meh, oh well.

Micki month was totally made, because they have a new shop that sells prints (and a couple originals, I think) of Ruth Thompson, I got an amazing picture. This one, actually. I have no idea how i'm going to get this back to Edwardsville while juggling a huge duffel bag, a slightly smaller bag, a heavy backpack and a pillow, but I will manage I suppose. Yea, I got one awesome picture, Micki got three. But she's getting hers shipped. Smart girl.

LET's see, what else? Had garlic mushrooms-deliciousness. Had many a sassafrass- also deliciousness. Got asked by some random drunk guy to come have drinks with him and his friend, and my darling sister played a pretty sucky wingman and let me stumble through trying to figure out how to politely turn him down. Had a pickle, and delicious corn dipped in butter (thank you daddy-o for giving me an amazing metabolizim that lets me eat pretty much whatever I want.) OH, and has anyone else ever had the cheese fritters! We didn't even know they existed, but WHOA are they good! I'm talking they-were-6.50-yet-we-still-thought-about-buying-more!

WHAAAT now? I gots me some sugarey handscrub, bath salts, and massage oil all for the damn decent price of $15 bux. Took me forever to figure out what kind I wanted, and Micki was gracious enough to put up with my indecision. And my ADD as I wandered around faire and went "OOH, look at this! "Oh, look over there! Hey, let's look at that!" And my constant taking of pictures, and making her take them. But hey, I'm in chainmail, and damnit I want picatures!

And there was a little pony by the efalumps! LIke a little, three-feet-tall shetland looking pony, and he was so kyoot!

I think the game shop has folded, because I don't remember seeing mancala in the streets, and that made me sad.

Finally saw the Mud Show for the first time, and was not impressed. I'm not a huge fan of largely audience participation shows. A little is ok, but come on. Shakespeare is gone too, which made me very sad.

Oh, and so I had to get my boy a present, cause I told him I would. And of course, what do you get a guy from ren faire? A weapon of course! I got him this big 'ol hammer-type-thing, with a fist holding a spike. Bludgeoning and piercing, yay! Much more exciting than a dagger. He better friggin love it!

And finally, I am pleased to report that Micki officially made it through the ENTIRETY of drum jam for the first time in many-a-year! I was proud of her. I didn't join her, cause I was already tired and I was the one driving home through stressful construction.

So that was Ren Faire! I have great pictures.. but they're still on me mom's camera. Hopefully I'll get them afore I leave for Edwardsville.
