doinkzz and I finally managed to try
Kangoo Jumps after last week's failed attempt.
My car accident in Jan had put me out of action exercise-wise for close to a month.
I wanted to add variety to my exercise regime by throwing in things other than the same old (read pilates).
I had heard a lot about the rehabilitative effect of exercising wearing a pair of Kangoo Jumps shoes, especially for a person with neck/back/knee issues like me.
We were wondering whether renting the shoes for an hour was enough exercise. The guy at the shop assured us (with one of those knowing grin) that an hour was more than enough.
5 minutes into the exercise, I was breathless and totally drenched in sweat. And you are talking about a person who had gym twice, did pilates once and swam once already this week.
An hour seemed like an eternity.
This is the deal with the shoes:
You have to keep moving all the time so you can balance yourself and not fall.
The fact about having to stabilise yourself all the time means that you get a very good workout for the entire body.
Running in east coast park with the kangoo jumps shoes is akin to being a very cute puppy out on a walk: you have people staring at you, smiling at you, pointing you out to their kids and the ultimate which I likened to being patted on the head (if I were a cute puppy): having random strangers stop to chat with you.
A most amusing experience!
doinkzz has lousy balance. Notice how she needed to hold on to me for support. i feel so fit. Muhahahaha!
