So while you sit back and wonder why, I've got this fuckin' thorn in my side!
Well the Red Sox lost tonight 7-5. I was there and it sucked. Our seats sucked(RF grandstands last fucking row...at least our view wasn't obstructed like my brother and his friend's(though they lucked out via a Good Samaritan who they ran into who gave them tickets to his seats which was like wicked close by)), my dad had a bum elbow, and I'm just tired as hell right now. Dice was good until the 6th when Casey Kotchman and Torii Hunter both hit some big flys to put them ahead. Manny had 3 RBI which is pretty good to see(somewhat more on this in a bit). Offensively, not a good day. Also, I'm a little sore over the bunting Jeff Mathis. Who the hell puts on a suicide squeeze when up by 4 runs?! I understand the idea that every run counts, but there's one out, you can do the same thing with a sac fly. Honestly -- a suicide squeeze?! He also bunted over a runner an inning or so later. Is Jeff Mathis REALLY that sucky of a hitter? Mehh regardless, it was moot anyway. On the bright side there's a few points. First off, I got a new hat. I got a Red Sox hat w/ the red socks in the front instead of the B. I always wanted a hat like this one. Also, scoreboard wise, no loss-no gain. Tampa lost 3-1 vs the Jays and the Yankees got smoked by the Orioles. So that's pretty good to see. Also, I think I love Javier Lopez all the more because I think his entrance music is "Sabotage"-Beastie Boys. That's awesome. If not, still awesome to see him enter by that song. Sounds badassed enough. :) Oh and Dice's music is some J-Pop song that I can't figure out what it is but it is insanely catchy.
Anyways as for Mannygate -- Part of me thinks it'll blow over, but part of me thinks that it's time. I'm really not sure it varies on my mood. Right now I'm kinda in the "Whatever" camp. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. However I really do think that Boras is playing a bigger role in this mess than it is let on to be. I really do love Manny and I will always love him, but if he goes he goes. No love lost from me, but I really do think that it may be time. But who knows, maybe in a few days he'll be okay....I'm not 100% sure though. I'll probably write up a more extensive thought process when I'm not half asleep.
So for those of you scoring at home -- my W/L record with me in attendance is 10-2. Good enough for an All Star Game invite, ERA be damned in some cases if this was the first half. Though keep in mind I was very unprepared for this game too...so you can take it as a starter who gets the start abruptly due to a late inning scratch.
