Jon Heyman ranks the
Top 12 Best Current Managers. Of course
Fire Joe Morgan did a better analysis of this but still, I gotta share the stupid
Heyman's Rankings(from 12 to 1)
12) Bruce Bochy, San Francisco Giants (Okay, this one is a good pick...dunno if it should be that low per se)
11) Ron Gardenhire, Minnesota Twins (A little better than this, but still is quite overrated. Always coughs it up in the playoffs)
10) Terry Francona, Boston Red Sox (Should be higher a little, but still)
9) Ozzie Guillen, Chicago White Sox (The reason? Manages on emotion and knows the game very well...dunno about that. Sometimes managing on emotion backfires)
8) Willie Randolph, New York Mets (I agree with this one. Randolph has done a fine job w/ the Metskies)
7) Grady Little, Los Angeles Dodgers (WHAT?! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! Heyman cites the iffy bullpen. Okay yes, they were iffy....IN THE REGULAR SEASON. LOOK AT THE GODDAMN FUCKING NUMBERS IN THE PLAYOFFS BEFORE YOU TRY TO LEGITIMATELY TRY TO DEFEND HIM!!! HE SUCKS AND STINKS AND SUCKS...and he outranks Tito?! Yeah.....right)
6) Bobby Cox, Atlanta Braves (he's put here because "he hasn't won it all that often" which I call bullshit on. Dude, if you went the title in that may years in a row, you deserve a slot. I mean....for fuck's sake he's probably the best)
5) Lou Piniella, Chicago Cubs (He's pretty good, but he's got a bad attitude. He's at least entertaining...probably top 10 maybe cracking the top 5 in my eyes)
4) Joe Torre, New York Yankees (Definitely one of the better ones, however, lately he hasn't been up to par. I mean dude, he managed that Red Sox series like it was the fucking playoffs. Seriously....what the hell Torre, did someone forget to tell you that it as the regular season?)
3) Mike Scioscia, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (He's alright I guess...nothign worth writing home about though. He's made his fair share of dumb decisions too)
2) Jim Leyland, Detroit Tigers (He's personally my number 1. He has a very good managing style sure he is a hardass but he makes sure he gets his teams in line and he hasn't had any real fatal flaws)
1) Tony La Russa, St. Louis Cardinals (OVERRATED *clap clap clapclapclap* And also, this reeks of hypocrisy. I mean Cox won a championship but his "lack of going all the way" compared to La Russa "Oh yeah he takes bad teams and makes them good" argument....La Russa has gotten KILLED in the playoffs before...I can name 2 occasions off the top of my head. Fuck...no. Maybe top 10 if I was being nice. But I don't buy into this whole "La Russa is a genius" bullshit)
