I saw you at the library, and wanted to talk, but was very busy with patrons. Sorry. I don't know if you've heard from Ruby recently, but she will be in town on the 27th and 28th for a little bit before going back to mid michigan. She wanted to get together with you and maybe some other key-grand-rapids-folk like Geniene for a lunch or something. I'll be picking her up from the airport Sunday, and since she doesn't have a car, I'll drive her all around.
I'm kind of getting lost in your art explanation...
Different books and movies to see? Have you seen "The Science of Sleep"? That was pretty good. I also liked reading the 'Buddha' series by Osamu Tezuka. Hmmm. Not sure what else. What about kids books? ha ha. Sometimes I think more adults should read kids books. They are always so filled with simple life lessons.
Will you have enough time this summer to work in that urban garden thing? It was you who was interested in that, right?
I like art, and I like making art, but sometimes I feel like its one of the most superficial things in life. Especially if someones sole means for income is art. It seems like a sign of too much civilization. Especially if most of their art is inorganic and permanent. The alternative is natural, crafty type stuff that is more of a hobby. But you can't make a living off that very well...
I also feel weird about art, similarly to how I don't like professional sports. People pay lots of money to watch the pros play sports, and there is a huge amount of money in it. In reality, I feel everyone should spend less time watching sports and more time actually playing them. Similarly, less time listening to other people playing their great music, more time making it yourself. Less emphasis on society pooling money into 'the best of the best' for entertainment, and more people just doing it themselves.
Hm.. this is a long post. Not sure how it resonates with you...
