Working on the railway network has advantages. Between Eltham and Hurstbridge where the suburbs dwindle away and trees are plentiful, the well trained eye can spot the trees in fruit. Lachie collected over 20 kilos of peaches from the roadside last weekend and then took off to go blackberrying where he picked about 5 kilo. My Fowlers unit has been running hot with peaches prepared in spiced syrup and blackberries sit in my freezer waiting to be turned into jam.

Oh and last weekend i also made more of the wonderful chai concentrate, trimmed the herbs and made mint sauce, and managed to make a shepherds pie with purple potato! Watch this space for the photos!
