A little over 2 weeks ago, I gave my 2 week notice at Monolith. As of today, I am officially unemployed. (Boo!) Until the 27th, when I start at Microsoft. (Yay!) I suppose it's not so much unemployment as it is a week's vacation.
There were a number of motivating factors behind this. Most importantly, I've recently felt as if I'm in a rut, professionally. When I started at Monolith, my experience was quickly advancing my position in a positive direction. Given time and repetition, that's sort of.. well.. stopped. I went looking for a position that would fit more closely with my current career goals (next-gen console, people around for me to learn from, local, etc..) and two possible positions at Microsoft percolated to the top. I picked my favorite. (Working on rendering tech for the TnT group at MGS.)
Working at Lith was a really great experience, and I'm going to miss working with everyone there. (Well, most everyone.) But life has to move on.
Anyway, enough of that crap.
I should also mention that I got a parakeet back in November. His name is Jack, and he likes millet and making loud chirping noises.
