Things in the garden

Winter aconite, Eranthis hyemalis, with regular snowdrops Galanthus nivalis in the background. The snow is gone, here's hoping that we are not in for another one of those late snow storms.

Double snowdrops, Galanthus nivalis 'Flore Pleno' - for some reason snowdrops is one of those plants that people go completely nuts about, collecting different species, cultivars and the like. It's called galanthophilia. I am not afflicted, thankfully, I'm happy enough just having the plain form of the most common species, nivalis, plus this also very common double version in my garden.

Hamamelis x intermedia, not sure of the cultivar name. This is my favourite shrub, and the fact that it survives and flowers here in spite of less than ideal growing conditions makes me happy.
