At my job we tend to have co-ops where students work a few months in each fall and winter semester. This past winter semester, we had a guy in who would drink Slim-Fast-like shakes every day in addition to his lunch and his seven cups of coffee. When he left to the joy of everyone working around him, he left one of his shakes behind.
About a week ago I decided to take that shake and drink it. A co-worker proclaimed that it was time for me to "get big." I agreed and drank most of the shake.
I hit up Meijers earlier today to get some food and I realized I should buy these shakes to help me "get big" -- I also picked up some Flintstones chewables to make sure I get all my nutrients, yay! Right next to each other they had the usual Slim-Fast and then Ensure. I think Ensure is supposed to be a supplement for old people, whatever.
I threw together a little table just to compare the two drinks. This is pretty much what I did in my head, standing in the aisle, trying to decide which one to get. I ended up getting one of both: a high protein "wild berry shake" from Ensure and a Creamy Milk Chocolate Slim-Fast Optima. Both of them taste like chalk, give me heartburn, and rile up my stomach a bit.

I'll stop with the posting of nutrients as I'm sure you all get the point of them both having very similar amounts of nutrients in the shakes. When you look at the numbers, you're pretty much paying extra for the same damn thing. Why would I want to pay $8 when I could pay $6 and get more shakes with the same amount of nutrition? It doesn't make any sense.
In the end, you can't rely on these things. Gotta do it the natural way. Zer ah no shotcuts in fitniss, yah!
