Minus The Bear Tour

As Minus the Bear's new CD release date approaches (August 21st), I felt the need to visit their website on more of a regular basis than I normally do. Normally, I visit it about once a month. Yeah, whatever, not many macro-level changes happen with bands these days. If I wanted to know what movie they just saw or what cereal they're eating for dinner, I'm sure I could stalk their myspace.

Anyways, the real awesome part about their tour can be found in the next few lines.

Sept 27 -- Detroit, MI -- St. Andrew's Hall
Sept 28 -- Cleveland, OH -- Grog Shop (Early)
Sept 28 -- Cleveland, OH -- Grog Shop (Late)
Sept 29 -- Pittsburgh, PA -- Diesel

That's right, four shows in a three day period in cities that are 2.5 hours away from each other. Not only that, but September 27th is a Thursday. That means I can hit up the Detroit show, take Friday off (since I'll still have a few vacation days left), see BOTH shows at the Grog Shop, then head to Pittsburgh for a show on Saturday night, drive home on Sunday and be super cool for Monday.

Gotta say I'm geeked. The Grog Shop is where I saw Thunderbirds are Now! open for MtB in what was the best set I've seen MtB perform. Also, they'll be playing TWO shows there in one day. Wow. The downside is that it's not downtown at all. In fact, the Grog Shop is seven miles from downtown Cleveland. That's like driving from Inkster to Melvindale. Or from downtown Detroit to 7 mile.

And then Pittsburgh's a city I haven't been to yet but I have to say I want to see it. It's another rust-belt city and I do have some sort of fondness for them (Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison, Toledo, Cleveland, Columbus..). I also have a recently married friend there so I might even be able to have dinner with them. Bonus for not having to hang out by myself!
